Named after Denver industrialist and philanthropist Charles Gates, who dreamt of the benefits stem cell research promised, Gates Institute aspires to foster collaboration between basic scientific researchers and clinical faculty in various departments and institutions, and to transition scientific breakthroughs into clinical practice as quickly as possible.
Membership in the Institute is open to basic researchers and clinical investigators and service, legal and regulatory entities with an interest in cell and gene therapies and regenerative medicine. Serving as a virtual hub, the Institute maintains a website, conducts a seminar series and provides other services designed to promote and support its members—all of whom stand to benefit from the synergy and collaborative research activities of their colleagues who retain their appointments in departments, divisions and institutions held prior to membership.
