Manager of Community Engagement and Education

Jill Cowperthwaite

Jill is Manager of Community Engagement and Education and co-director of the Gates Summer Internship. She arrived on campus in 2012 as director of marketing and external relations and then as executive director of the Gates Center. She previously worked as director of development at History Colorado, associate director of development and alumni relations at St. Anne’s Episcopal School, and legislative assistant for the late Illinois Congressman John Porter in Washington, D.C.

Jill received her BA in Political Science from Middlebury College. She has served as a board member and president of the Parents’ Association at Graland Country Day School, the Middlebury College Rocky Mountain Chapter, the Kent Denver Alumni Association, and the University of Denver’s Humanities Institute.

As a fourth generation Coloradoan who grew up knowing Charlie Gates and his family, Jill is thrilled to be in a position to help advance his vision.

Fun fact: People have trouble pronouncing Jill’s last name, but Siri makes it very simple: “Cow birth weight”!
